This policy explains what information Zuk Technologies collects about you when you visit zuktech.com or work with us on a project, how we use that information, and the choices you have about it.
We've written this in plain language. If anything's unclear, email support@zuktech.com and we'll explain it.
Who we are
Zuk Technologies is a software product company based in Kampala, Uganda. We build mobile apps, web platforms, and digital infrastructure for clients globally. For the purposes of data protection laws, Zuk Technologies is the data controller for personal information collected through our website and during client engagements.
Information we collect
We collect information in three ways.
Information you give us directly. When you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, a description of your project, and the timeline you're working with. When you engage us on a project, we collect additional information necessary to deliver the work — usually project requirements, account credentials for tools you ask us to use, and communication records.
Information collected automatically. When you visit our website, we collect basic technical information through analytics: the pages you visit, your approximate location (country or city level), the type of device and browser you use, and how you arrived at our site. We use this information to understand how the site is performing and to improve it.
Information from other sources. Occasionally we receive information about you from third parties — for example, if a colleague introduces you to us via email, we learn your name and email address from that introduction.
How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to your inquiries and proposals
- Deliver the services you've engaged us for
- Communicate with you about ongoing work
- Send you transactional emails (proposals, invoices, updates)
- Improve our website and services
- Comply with legal obligations
We don't sell your information to anyone. We don't use it for advertising. We don't share it with third parties except as described below.
How we share information
We share information only when one of these conditions is met:
- Service providers we use to operate our business. We use third-party providers for website hosting, data storage, email delivery, and analytics. These providers can only use the information to perform services for us, and they're contractually obligated to protect it.
- When required by law. If law enforcement or a court orders us to disclose information, we will comply.
- With your explicit consent. If you ask us to share information with a third party (for example, introducing you to another vendor), we will.
- In a business transfer. If Zuk is acquired by or merges with another company, customer information may be transferred as part of the transaction. You'll be notified if this happens.
Cookies and tracking
We use minimal cookies and tracking. Our analytics provider may set a small number of cookies to understand site usage. We don't use cookies for advertising or remarketing. You can disable cookies in your browser settings without losing access to any of our content.
Data retention
We retain information for as long as it's needed for the purposes described above. Contact form inquiries are kept for 24 months unless we're actively working together, in which case we retain them for the duration of the engagement plus 7 years for legal and tax purposes. You can ask us to delete your information at any time by emailing support@zuktech.com.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct any inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your information
- Object to how we process your information
- Receive your information in a portable format
To exercise any of these rights, email support@zuktech.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
International data transfers
Some of our service providers are based outside Uganda. By using our services, you agree to your information being transferred to and stored in countries outside Uganda, including the United States and European Union. We take reasonable steps to ensure your information is protected wherever it's stored.
Security
We protect your information using industry-standard security practices, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect what you share with us.
Children's privacy
Our services are not directed to children under 16. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we've collected information from a child, contact us at support@zuktech.com and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll post the updated policy here and update the "Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes will be communicated to active clients directly.
